The Peacock Warrior Woman

How She Came to Be
The Peacock Warrior Woman has evolved after many years of nurturing her awareness during her daily meditations sitting underneath the Tree of Life. A family of peafowl were always present when she would visit. During her meditations she would gaze into the eyes of the peacocks feathers while she accessed her higher self. Over time after her prolonged connections with the peafowl, she began absorbing the wisdom of the peacock totem, or their  "medicine" we would say. Grandfather Peacock remains her closest companion to this day as they fill their visits with conversations of Philosophy and Meaning of Life.

In her enlightened state she carries a balance between masculine and feminine qualities. This  allows her the gifts  of discernment and decisiveness  from the feminine side, while the extraordinary plumage from the masculine side brings an increased connection with her intuition and vision

What She Gives to the World
The Peacock Warrior Woman is now a Guide, a Guide for those who are on their spiritual journey of reclaiming their inner spirit. The search to find the pieces of ourselves that we have lost or given away over the years is her primary focus, for she herself knows  the feeling of waking up and feeling as if something is missing. She "gifts" one of her feathers to those who are seeking, to help them connect with their own higher selves during meditation, to heighten their skills of awareness, and to access their intuition in a strong and consistent manner.

The original Contemporary Folk painting of "The Peacock Warrior Woman" was created by Jeanne Fry. It is listed for sale in our Etsy shop where you can also see more photos and learn about the dimensions.

Luna's Moonflowers - Ode to the Night

As the twilight approaches and the veil is getting thin, the anticipation heightens... for soon our dance will begin.

This is the magic time, embraced by a blanket of stars. It is another world, a different world, a world filled with possibilities. While others are sleeping soundly, we allow our Mystic Spirit to connect with Luna who glows so stoically in the sky.
She urges us to trust in our "knowing", and to feel confident in doing so. These sweet hours allow for uninterrupted thinking. They are the bridge between our conscious and sub-conscious.
As the moonflower only blooms at night, so does a certain part of our Spirit. Finding the balance between both worlds allows us to step confidently in our Self.

This is a Contemporary Folk Art Painting by Jeanne Fry. Done in acrylics on canvas, the woman offers a bouquet of Moonflowers to Luna, in thanks for the respite and knowledge she provides.

This original painting is sold.

Moonlight Messages from Crow

During that magical time in the evening when the sky transitions through color and awaits the rising of the moon...the Crow sits quietly.
During this time of peaceful silence our weary spirit, tired from the day, can connect with our inner wisdom. Our authentic self emerges in order to nurture and revitalize through the night. This primal part of ourselves will "recap" from the day and think about what "could" be tomorrow. It listens for messages, as the intuitive inside readies us for the dream time. All the answers are within, we only need to be reminded.
Sometimes we get distracted, or lose our connection with our intuitive self, and this is why Crow is here to help us. He is the Carrier of the Messages.

Willow Tree Moon and it's Symbolic Meaning

The Willow Tree has always been a beautiful and meaningful symbol to me. Its sacredness is rich in history and culture, having been held dear by the Celtic and Druids.
Willow Tree Moon, Contemporary Folk Art Painting by Jeanne Fry

It has been known as a tree of great mysticism, associated with psychic ability and vision, which explains it's relationship with the Moon. It is linked with the water element, and the flexible movement of the tree is representative of our need to adjust or acclimate along our journey. The Water/Moon connection helps facilitate a "walking with grace" attribute, in our attitudes and actions. It is a wonderful symbol for those that are working on deepening their connection with their own intuition and are learning to be flexible with life along their spiritual journey.

Earth Lizard, a Totem for Life's Journey and Meaning

The Lizard Totem is close to my heart, a wonderful guide and teacher, of Connecting with one's intuition, How we perceive the world and each other, and Detachment. My newest lizard painting is called "Earth Lizard". I wanted to portray the strong connection with the Earth.

Earth Lizard Contemporary Folk Art Painting by Jeanne Fry

The lizard's skills of being "aware" make him skilled on his journey walking this land. He senses through vibration and has excellent hearing. He moves quickly through life, but at the same time knows when to stop and be still - to be unseen and blend with his environment. These perception skills teach us to pay attention to the things around us, and to learn to trust in our own intuition. He guides us to listen, not only to what is being said, but also to what is not being said...and to see beyond the obvious.
Some lizards have the ability to detach or lose their tail when they are in a compromised position. This ability teaches us to let go of the things symbolically that we no longer need in order to move on.

The "Earth Lizard" painting brings forth the connection with the Earth and it's elements, soaking in the glow of the Sun and it's healing positive energy. While he is unique and individual in the designs he wears, he can still blend into his environment with ease when needed.
When creating this painting, I added a new medium into my use of the acrylics, that brought a rich texture. This texture is symbolic of the the lizard's sensitivities and perceptions as he walks the Earth.

Red Tailed Hawk ~ His Spirit and Symbolic Meaning

Red Tailed Hawk Totem Symbolism
The Red Tailed Hawk is a powerful animal totem signifying Vision. He asks us to watch for confirmations, and listen for messages as we  travel  on our journey. Being aware and having a sense of peace is important in order to be conscious of those timely clues that are shown to us. If we are distracted by stresses, we may miss the "answers" that exist.

The hawk allows us to see the bigger picture and our connection with it. While we are continually making choices in regards to our daily living and how to handle a situation for today, the Hawk exists to also help us with "tomorrow". He helps to bridge the gap of "What can I do today that will lay the groundwork for my future?" He can also bring a better understanding of how we are all woven together in a fabric that creates "The All".

The hawk is a wonderful  totem to work with when one is focused on living a life that resonates with their spirit. He inspires one to soar, to see and reach their highest potential, and to do so with  powerful grace and ease. Hawk demonstrates how to find that needed balance between body, mind, and spirit....to connect with something higher, utilize our intuition, and yet stay balanced in every day life.
When Hawk shows up as a totem, profound meaning and growth are certain to appear.

A Serendipitous Moment with the Hawk
(updated on 2-11-2014)

I wanted to share a special moment with you that I had with the Hawk today. This morning I was in my studio finishing up a gourd ceremonial rattle that I had been working on over the past few days. I had painted the head of a Red Tailed Hawk on the front of the rattle with some design work around the top. I was working on the leather wrapping of the handle and adding some wooden pony beads and tin cones after breakfast this morning. While I was working on it I was frequently looking out the window at the snow falling. It was very quiet and serene as the large snow flakes drifted down. I happened to look out at one point and a very large and beautiful hawk came flying down and landed on the deck railing outside my studio window. I sat and watched him silently, not wanting to startle him with my movement. He scanned the property, looking and contemplating. Time stood still as I watched him while he was on his hunt. He was so close I could see the snow flakes land on his beautiful feathers and melt as they touched him. I watched him as he flew off and then looked down, realizing I still had the Hawk Rattle in my hand. Tears welled in my eyes as I felt blessed by the Hawk, a confirmation to my spirit. I feel he left some of his energy with me and the rattle. I spent the day feeling grateful for my connection with Mother Earth and the animals, and grateful for my awareness. A few minutes later I walked outside to look at where he had landed on the deck rail. His prints were deep on the snow ledge. I took a photo of them to remember the moment.
